Can-Am Defender HD8 RackBoss 2.0 Rack and Pinion

Stock steering racks on your Can-Am Defender wear out faster than they should, and once they start getting loose, you're fighting the wheel with every turn. A worn-out rack kills your control and makes tight maneuvering a pain. The RackBoss 2.0 Rack and Pinion swaps in to give you rock-solid steering that'll handle whatever you throw at it—tight trails, heavy loads, or aggressive turns with bigger rubber.

The Dual-Bushing Design That Actually Works

Here's the thing: stock racks fail because there's too much play between the steering box and the tie rod ends. RackBoss 2.0 uses PTFE bushings at both ends of the rack (that's what the patented X24 Tech is) to cut down wear by over 50% compared to what you started with. You also get built-in grease fittings, so you can flush out mud and gunk that builds up after muddy rides. The result is steering that stays tight season after season.

Pick Your Tie Rod Style

You've got two choices here, and each one handles different kinds of abuse.

Swaged Tube Tie Rods — These are 7/8" diameter steel tubes that are swaged (pinched and formed) for strength without the weight penalty. They run 14 mm threads on the outer tie rod ends and 16 mm rack threads on the inner ball sockets. Good for general trail work and moderate tire upgrades.

Solid Steel Bar Tie Rods — Going bigger? These are solid 1" steel rods paired with 3/4" outer tie rod ends and 16 mm rack threads on the inner side. They're beefier and made for serious abuse—turning large tires through rough terrain and rocky ground. The inner tie rods are also rebuildable if you ever need to service them.

What You Get

Both versions come complete with the full rack assembly, steering stop kit, misalignment bushings, inner boots on the tie rods, tie rod studs, and all the hardware you need to bolt it up. Everything's ready to go straight out of the box.
