Yamaha YZ490 Ricochet Aluminum Skid Plate

Your Yamaha YZ490 (1984–1990 models, including YZ125X) takes a beating on the trail, and your undercarriage needs real protection. Rocks, logs, stumps, and whatever else you hit will wreck an unprotected engine and frame fast. This Ricochet skid plate is built to take those hits so your bike doesn't have to.

What You're Getting
The plate is cut and shaped specifically for your YZ490, then bolted on using heavy-duty brackets and proprietary hardware—no drilling into the frame required. It bolts straight up, and the install is straightforward. The whole thing comes with a clear anodize coat that adds another layer of protection against corrosion and wear.

The Material
We use 5052 H32 aircraft-grade aluminum, the same stuff they use in planes. It's .160 inch thick, which means it's solid enough to handle real trail abuse without flexing or denting easily. Made in the USA.

Powder Coat Option
If you want a tougher, darker finish, add a black powder coat when you order. Fair warning: if you go this route, tack on 1–2 extra weeks for shipping while we get it coated. You can also grab it with the clear anodize and powder coat it yourself later if you want—we'll prep the surface for you at no extra charge.
